Once
upon a time there was a little boy. This boy was poor – he was born in one of
the most humble places imaginable. No one really liked him, except his parents,
and some even tried to kill him. When he grew up, most people rejected him, and
his friends never really understood him. He told them about his life, but they
were too caught up in their lives to worry about what they were missing. When he died, most never even saw it coming.
Shocked, they watched him die a criminal’s death – the worst there was.
I’m
sure by now you’ve figured out that this boy was Jesus. And to the joy of the
universe, He rose three days later to give hope and peace and salvation to us
all.
Through
Jesus’ great mercy we have that awesome ability to live new every day. He came
down to this sick earth just so we could be born again. He chose to love us
more than anything, risking His life – life that we can’t even begin to
understand – so that He could save us. He came and was born in stable – filled
with the stink and contamination of dirty animals – to be a helpless baby. He
encountered life as we do. He got sick, was hurt and experienced hatred – just
so He could save the world.
Throughout
the ages humanity continues to discard Him, but He loves us so much. Praise God
for His mercy and grace! He sent His son to do this for us because He loves us.
God’s heart broke the day His son died, but three days later Jesus rose to
life. Now we have the awesome hope that we can have new life in our God. So, in
praise to my Lord and Savior, I choose today – and forever – to celebrate that
day that He was born to die, so I could one day pray for Him to save my life.
