Show-off, Your Guide to Being Noticed

    Everybody wants attention. To many people, attention completes their day. But the thing is, not everybody can have it, that is, not at all times. Why? It is because there are always people who shine brighter that the others (even without trying); thus, they catch the attention that they want. Those who cannot shine as much remain in the background! I am sorry to tell you; but the truth is, life is not fair.
    Attention can be earned even if one does not have the talent in getting it. How? Show off! Yes, the quickest and the surest way to popularity is by showing off. Still not convinced? Try browsing the internet! Go to YouTube or sign in to Facebook. Which posts get attention? Show-offs, right? For instance, you update your status into “in a relationship” and you will get as many comments and “likes” as you want. See? That’s sheer popularity!
    Recently, I made a survey of  my fellow students’ answer to the question “How do you show off?” The following are the top responses: “By giving my best”, “By using my talents” and “By bringing gadgets to school.”
Now, let us take a look into these responses.
By bringing gadgets to school.
    Gadgets are not allowed inside the school during school hours. If you’re planning on showing off with this, be prepared to be disappointed because gadgets can be used only after school. Because students like to leave school early, I don’t think this will work. In addition, people perhaps will just think you are being a douchebag with the gadgets and all.
By giving one’s best
Of course you want to give your best. But what will you do if your best is still not good enough for people to notice you? For me, it is not the way to show off. To show off means to bring out the most interesting thing about you even if you know that it is not the best thing about you.
By using what I naturally have (talents, looks, and humor).
    People whom we see in our TV are called stars. They shine bright. How? Talents come in. Beauty comes in too. People are naturally drawn to beauty. In fact, beauty is something that has been in demand for ages now. Whether we like it or not, beauty and talents are necessary. That’s why if you have either talent or beauty or both, use them! It’s the best way to look natural while showing off.  In this category is also humor. People love fun. If you’re a factory of funny things, people will like you a lot, but beware, don’t go overboard, there’s a limit to everything.
    This is where my list ends. But I want us to remember that although at one time or another many people are tempted to show off, just to be our own true selves may still be the best way to win people to our side. Ready to show everybody what you’re made of?
