2011 NUTRITION MONTH CELEBRATION: “ISULONG ANG BREASTFEEDING! TAMA, SAPAT, EKSKLUSIBO”

Every year, in the month of July, Filipinos observes the Nutrition month purposely to spread information of good nutrition to everyone especially students. This year’s theme, “ISULONG ANG BREASTFEEDING! TAMA, SAPAT, EKSKLUSIBO” focuses on the promotion of exclusive breastfeeding for babies. The DEPED enjoined all schools to participate in this kind of activity, so as well our school participated.

 Our delayed celebration last August 2, 2011 was an exciting day. The SA officers planned meaningful activities the students must present. These were food garnishing, mascot, jingle, poster and slogan making, having criteria each.

The students were very much excited and prepared for their own presentations. Each year have their own props and costumes. Some have their body paints, some boys wore their masks and other year just simply wore the same color of shirts. But, before everything else, the program started with a prayer and followed by the message of our speaker, Miss Jelmi Rizalino, a registered nurse. She shared the students about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and its benefits. After her message, we had first our lunch and continued the program in the afternoon for the presentations.

The first presentation was the jingle by the fourth year students with their choice of music “The healthy Song”, followed by the first years (Makulay ang buhay), the second years (remix music) and the third years (remix music also). As the program continued, Mascots get ready to represent their year level. In the criteria, one must show his/ talent.  As usual, they sang and dance accompanied by their classmates. On the other hand, the food garnishing, slogan and posters were displayed in the gym to be judged by the judges.

After judging, students were eager to know the result. They were all proud and confident that they would be the winner. These were the following result.

Teachers and students enjoyed the program. For us students, we gain another lesson from nutrition especially about breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is to protect and improve child’s survival. TSEK! Tama, Sapat, EKsklusibo.
